Two-plate molds is the types of the injection mold used for medium (average) mold’s size. It gives better strength to the structure of products at low pressure, but has a small runner weight and capacity in the injection molding machine.
Two plate molds are the most commonly used type of injection molds. This type of mold is very simple to design because the cold runner and mould cavities are on the same part line surface which means they are machined into the same plate
Advantages of 2 plate mold.
- Less manufacturing time
- Simple structure and low cost compared to three plate mold
- Fast cycle
Disadvantages of Two Plate Mold
- In multi-cavity injection mold, it is challenging to keep molten plastic flow balance.
- Parting line aligning with the gate in multi-cavity two mold mold is unavoidable.
